What is Superstition..???

Superstition is one of the ridicolous belief that have being applied in every culture life all around the world based on the reasons and knowledge. This kind of thing normally came from an old folks' belief. Superstition are devided into some groups. For example:

• Superstition and psychology
• Superstition and religion
• Superstition and folklore

Superstition and Psycology

Superstition and psycology can be idenfied when people started to avoiding the black cat, reading the daily horoscope, afraid of darkness and so on and so fall. Because of the mind set about what have been stated in the story telling by an ancestors or any palmist, people do believe with this kind of things.

Superstition and Religion

Superstition and religion basically will included in every single of religion's belief from all around the world. People will started to believe in miracle and life after the death and also kind of supernatural.

Superstition and Folklore

Superstition and folklore is something that cannot be separate. We can find or heard this things if we go somewhere that is having the lagendary story or just an ordinary places.

Samples of Superstition

i. Collect seven or nine different flowers on midsummer eve and place them under your pillow and you will dream of your future spouse. (Sweden)

ii. If you are dreaming biten with the snake, someone would like to purpose you as his/her wife/husband. (Malay)

iii. Guan Yu (關羽), the red-faced, bearded hero of Romance of the Three Kingdoms and symbol of loyalty. He is the patron god of policemen and law, and gangsters, as he shows forgiveness, and often also serves as "Wu Sheng". (Chinese)

iv. If your ears become hot for sudden means someone has talk bad about you.

v. If you sweep a woman’s feet, she’ll never get married. (Latin American)

Why do people believe in these superstitions?

From my point of view, people started to believe all these kind of superstitions maybe based on their ancestors' story telling. Beside that, an experience from theif daily life also can be one of those reasons. For example, if your right hand is become itchy, it means that you will earn some money, if the glass is falling down and cracks means something bad had happen to your beloved or close person and so on. Many people especially Malaysian have had experienced those kind of situations. I am also have experience some superstitions and i am also do believe on it. Last but not least, less of religion's education also may courage people to believe in superstitions.

Opinion toward Superstition?

We can believe all this such things but we cannot be too addicted because, this may led to the negative way. For example, some people said if you wanna get the lucky number for gambling, you need to overnight at the 'special' grave. In Islamic perspective, too much believe in superstition (my own opinion), it may destroy our faith. What have been writen in Qada' and Qadar are something that happen by God's desire and wishes.
